1. Overview

Managing projects efficiently in MindMap AI is essential for organizing your work, brainstorming ideas, and collaborating with others. This guide outlines common messages and issues you may encounter while deleting, duplicating, or editing projects, along with how to resolve them quickly.

Whether you're getting a success alert, an error preventing deletion, or duplicating your work, the information below will help you understand what each message means and what actions to take next.

2. Common Project Management Issues

Delete Error

Project is being edited elsewhere. Please close it before deleting!

What this means

You're trying to delete a project that is currently open in another browser tab, window, or device. To prevent data loss or conflicts, MindMap AI doesn't allow deletion of actively edited projects.

How to resolve

  • Close the project in any other browser tabs or devices
  • If you're unsure where it's open, log out of all sessions and log in again before retrying

3. Project Duplicated Successfully

After duplicating a project, you'll see an on-screen alert confirming that your project has been successfully copied.

During project duplication, you might see the following status message:

Project "The Feynman Technique (8)" has been duplicated successfully!

What this means

This is a normal part of the duplication process. When you see a confirmation message, the system has created an exact copy of your original project with a numbered suffix (e.g., "(8)").

What to expect

  • The duplicated project will appear in your dashboard within seconds
  • You can edit or rename it without affecting the original
  • The original project remains unchanged

4. Project Deleted Successfully

The project "New Topic (1)" has been deleted successfully!

What this means

The selected project was successfully removed from your workspace and is now permanently deleted.

What to expect

  • The project is no longer visible in your dashboard
  • Deleted projects cannot be recovered unless you previously exported them as .mma files

Tip: Consider exporting important projects before deletion for backup purposes.

5. Project Management Best Practices
